A Word from "Top"
First Sergeant Edward Camp

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to
the Commander of the 253rd and the New Jersey National Guard for the confidence
they have in me. My recent promotion to 1SG is going to be a great challenge and
I will take on that challenge with great enthusiasm. I look forward to serving
the soldiers of the 253rd and the New Jersey National Guard in all missions that
are tasked to us. Many challenges lie ahead for us in the upcoming training year
and we must be prepared to take on that task successfully.
It is my intent to ensure that the Commanders policies, and the policies of the
New Jersey National Guard, are enforced. I will be working closely with the
leadership to ensure that every soldier is given the opportunity to
professionally develop and manage his or her careers. I strongly encourage
every soldier to enroll in NCOES schools at the earliest opportunity so that
they will be prepared to accept any promotional opportunities afforded to them.
Again, I look forward to serving the soldiers of the 253rd and hope for a
successful tour as your 1SG.
I would like to congratulate all the soldiers who were recently promoted; it is
the Commander’s intent to promote all eligible soldiers. As you have seen there
have been many promotions recently and there are more to follow.
Just a reminder to all soldiers to use the chain of command and to use the
soldier’s action request forms for any administrative actions or pay problems.
Make sure these are reviewed and signed by your Platoon Sergeant before
submission.
